Time is not a friend of ours,
a taker, not a giver
moving forward like its counterpart --
the ever-flowing river.

Fixated on one journey,
only onward and ahead
realizing what has happened
cannot be undone, or unsaid.

Its streaming river currents
never hesitate or stall,
surrendering remorse and fear
to every waterfall.

Not permitting stones and branches
to impede its endless flow.
Regrets don't stop the river
because the river lets them go.

The life lesson from the river,
created by the universe:
Focus only on today.
Never travel in reverse.
